Thanks to a tip-off from Werner Schmitz at the Media Gems website I recently picked up another crop of YTV publicity stills from Bird's series The Winning Streak. I have uploaded them to the picture gallery page in the Winning Streak section of the website.

Website Visistor Phil Clarke emails me from time to time with updates on the locations used in Bird's series The Aphrodite Inheritance. At the end of last year Phil wrote "With a fair amount of sadness I read in the news yesterday that the Curium palace hotel in Limassol is due to be demolished. It's an iconic building with a fair amount of history behind it but they obviously decided it's not important enough to be saved. I suspect money and developer greed is behind the decision."

Actor Peter Martin died on 19 April 2023 at the age of 82. He is probably most recently remembered from playing the Royles' neighbour Joe Caroll for 14 years in British sitcom The Royle Family. He also played Len Reynolds in ITV's Emmerdale from 2001 to 2007. Way back in 1983 Peter appeared as one of the Yorkshire locals in Michael Bird's series The Outsider.

Website visitor Mike Flowers emailed me at the start of the year to say he had discovered that actor Godfery James had died back in 2019. I regard James as one of Bird's little band of strolling players, appearing in The Lotus Eaters, The Aphrodite Inheritance and one of Bird's scripted episodes of Special Branch. Mike said "The news seemed to trickle out a long time (2021) after he died. There has been no proper obituary. He was a familiar face in the 70s and 80s, so it’s a shame his passing was almost completely ignored."
