MR ROSE Long time visitors to the website may recall that a while back
I bought a copy of Michael Bird's Mr Rose episode "The Jolly Good Fellow" from the
ITV archives for a ridiculous amount of money. I took the plunge again recently and
ordered Bird's other contribution to the series - "The Unlucky Dip" - so I now have
copies of both of Bird's episodes on DVD. They are of really good quality, considering their age,
and it is great fun to be able to watch them again after all these years. Website visitor Jonathan Coley kindly designed a very
professional looking DVD box cover to go with the disks.
I have uploaded a jpeg of the cover to the website.
I also took the opportunity to add a few other bits and
bobs about the Mr Rose series I came across on my tavels around the web. |
CHRISTMAS TREAT? You know Christmas must be just around the corner when I upload that cheesy little snow routine to the website. But there is still time to treat yourself to a copy of my Biography of Michael Bird. It is one of the chief ways I have to raise funds to support the site. ALEXANDRA BASTEDO I was contacted recently by Andrew Glew, who has been developing Alexandra Bastedo's website, to say that the star of The Aphrodite Inheritance has launched her first fully fledged Fan Club, with all the proceeds going to her animal sanctuary. In her newsletter Alexandra talks about her first acting role in a film called 13 Frightened Girls. She says "there wasn’t an awful lot to do except scream … and then scream some more. But I thought you might enjoy seeing the trailer for the film and my first appearance on screen. THE WINNING STREAK I continue to be amazed how popular Bird's series The Winning Streak seems to be. I have had several approaches recently from people trying to track down copies. I don't recall ever having heard of it until I met Olive Bird and she told me about Michael's projects with YTV. |
