MAELSTROM Over the last couple of years website regular Anna Pereboom has been seeking
out locations used in the filming of Who Pays the Ferryman? and her photographs are on the website. Carolyn Meadows, another website regular, visited Alesund in Norway, the setting for
Michael Bird's series Maelstrom, this summer and while she was there Carolyn
met Bente Saxon from the Tourist office and visited a number of the series' locations.
Carolyn kindly sent me copies of her photographs and I have uploaded them to the website
in a "then" and "now" format. It works really well and it has prompted Anna to revist her
pix and we propose to give them a similar treatment. |
New Book from Cambridge Scholars Publishing I was flattered earlier this year when the editor of a forthcoming book by Cambridge Scholars Publishing entitled Greece and Britain since 1945 invited me to contribute a chapter on Michael Bird's creations for a section on Greece and the media. I warned him that most of my information had gone into my own book about Michael Bird but he didn't mind that at all. He had read my book and he liked my writing style and the material I had used. He even suggested it might encourage folk to buy my book. I was still not sure I could deliver something suitable but I duly submitted my contribution and the editor was delighted with it, making only one minor change. The book is due to be published early next year - I will keep you posted. |

THE WINNING STREAK I picked up another publicity still from Michael Bird's YTV series The Winning Streak recently on e-Bay. A nice shot of the stars with the MG Metro 6R4 rally car. I have added it to The Winning Streak gallery page on the website. |
