THE APHRODITE INHERITANCE I mentioned a few months back that I had been contacted by an artist named Linda Sutton
who had "been invited to create one or two paintings on the theme of the lost heritage of Cyprus."
Linda added that she was inspired by Bird's series The Aphrodite Inheritance and hoped to create
"something strong and magical." I am delighted to say that she has sent me photographs
of the finished paintings and I have uploaded copies to the
Gallery page in the Aphrodite Inheritance section of the website. Linda said: "I just realised 2009 will be the 30th anniversary of
the BBC screening of The Aphrodite Inheritance. Also Olive Bird's
maiden name, being 'Dove' is very apt, as Aphrodite's bird is a dove and
the goddess was said to often turn herself into one."

ARTHUR OF THE BRITONS
Following my appeal in the last newsletter, I am pleased to say a friend in Canada has sourced me a copy of Bird's Arthur of the Britons episode. PAUL TEMPLE I also have a copy of Bird's Paul Temple episode "Night Train" copied to DVD. The only problem is the soundtrack has been dubbed over in German. (Not a problem if you speak German of course!)! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE AND BEST WISHES FOR 2009 have a good one ... |

WHO PAYS THE FERRYMAN? I have commented before how difficult it is to track down stills from Who Pays the Ferryman? I was pleased therefore when a shot of Jack Hedley and Maria Sokali came up last week on e-Bay. I have uploaded a scan to the Gallery page in the Who Pays the Ferryman? section of the website. |

THE BIRD FAMILY TREE I got an interesting e-mail the other week - from Bill Jarvis in Canada who is researching the Bird family tree. He was looking for any more information I could give him about the branch of the family "Michael John Hereford Bird, son of John Sydney Bird and Moya Willets." Bill has kindly promised to send me a copy of what he has discovered to date. Amazing what this website turns up! |
