THE APHRODITE INHERITANCE
I have been contacted by a London-based artist named Linda Sutton (website www.Lindasutton.com) who tells me she "has been invited to create one or two paintings on the theme of the lost heritage of Cyprus. The theme is quite broad. The paintings will be in an exhibition in Hampstead at Gallery K in February 2009 and then the show moves to a gallery in Nicosia."
Linda says, "I intend starting the paintings in the Autumn, but I need to think about them now. I feel very inspired by Michael Bird's series The Aphrodite Inheritance and hope to create something strong and magical. I remember the series in 1979 when it was televised, but missed one or two of them, unfortunately, as in those days we didn't record in our homes. I am re-reading the book, but should like to see the TV series afresh."
I was delighted to help. Linda promises to keep us informed on her progress and adds "I shall email you some photos, when the paintings are complete. I shall put them on my website, too."
More news later, hopefully ....
THE DARK SIDE OF THE SUN CHRONOLOGY
Twenty-five years ago this month Michael Bird's serial The Dark Side of the Sun was first broadcast on BBC television. To celebrate the "Silver Jubilee" Dr Marianne Gilchrist (a fan of the series and something of a 'Templar' expert) thought she would have a go at a chronology to see how the back-story could be dovetailed into real world events.
It works out quite well - Michael Bird would have been chuffed.
I have given it its own page acessible from the main The Dark Side of the Sun overview page.
